What does a former music major turned lawyer have in common with a former choir director turned law student? Apparently quite a lot. After discovering they not only had common interests, but also many common friends, Brian and Jack began to discover that there may a bit more beneath the surface. The rest is, as they say, history.

But while they share a lot in common, that's not to say they are carbon copies. Jack introduced Brian to Longhorn football, crawfish, baking, and Star Wars (with some reluctance). Brian, in turn, showed Jack the ropes of partially repairing a broken recliner, actually repairing a lot of random things in the house, traveling to new places, and taking care of plants, something that Jack has...not mastered. Through it all, they have brought out the best in each other and challenged each other to be the best versions of themselves possible. The idea of a life together seemed not only possible, but the only path forward either of them could conceive.

Jack proposed to Brian in June 2024 in Punta Mita, Mexico, atop a rock overlooking the ocean at sunset. If that sounds romantic, please note that they had to hurriedly leave to avoid being discovered by hotel staff setting a table on the rock for a private dinner. It was a perfect encapsulation of their relationship: beautiful, blessed, but a great source of laughter.

Post-wedding, Brian and Jack will be starting a new chapter, moving into a new house they are building together in Austin along with their dog Captain and cat Katy. They both agree that, one day, they will own a duck.
